Homemade Spicy Barbecue Beef Burgers
Serves 1
Tasty lean beef burgers with a spicy kick
Ingredients
- 500g minced beef
- Small red onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tspn cumin
- 1 tspn mustard powder
- Handful of fresh coriander chopped
- Tbsp Worcester sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Finely chop the onion and fry gently until transparent. Remove the onion from the pan and transfer to a mixing bowl. Beat the egg and add to the onion along with the meat and the herbs and spices. Add a little Worcester sauce, but no more than a tablespoon as your mixture will grow too wet otherwise. Mix and press the mixture together; the longer the mixture is manipulated, the smoother it will become.
Form 4 patties on a floured surface and place on greaseproof paper in the fridge for around half an hour. This will ensure that the mixture firms up and when it’s placed on the BBQ it will retain its shape.
Cook the burgers for around 5 minutes on each side on a very hot grill. Before cooking them; make an indent with your thumb in the centre of each burger to ensure that they do not lose their shape.
Serve on fresh bread rolls with a mixture of salad, salsa and grated cheese for topping the burgers.
